Hey gang
We had a wonderful weekend once the rain left on Sat afternoon. Weather turned perfect around noon and everyone showed up. We did have a TN HP sting operation on Sat with helo's and cruisers. They were giving out tickets for everything to everyone.....of course somehow the big trucks who can not stay in their lanes got a free pass. Maybe I should attach a 40 ft trailer to my bike then I can cross the double yellow all day long lol. Anyway, sunday turned out to be even better than Sat and the TNHP guys had to go home. Looks like this week will be a mix of sun and some showers but the weekend looks ok for now. We have several events in the area this coming weekend, the Biggest being the Cheerokee Ralley. That one always brings big crouds to the gap, so look for lots of Harley's in the gap this weekend. Well everyone have a good week.

Brad,
How are the "Boys in Blue" on loud pipes. The idea of the sting just doesn't sound good. I would hate to come down there and get a invitation to the ball. (I have had enough of those already  ) Thanx

That is the one thing I have never seen a ticket for, and I think that it will not be an annual thing but a once in awhile deal

Thanks for the warning so quick. It gave our group time to react and re-route our planned ride Brad. We had planned a ride from upstate SC to Rosmond NC, 215 to the parkway, 441, little river road and the foothills parkway then thru the gap. We however decided to try 76 to 5, 68 and Tellico Planes and the Cherohala instead. BTW your burgers were great, gas was topped off and we were careful not to spend a f-dime in Tennessee, Will be back your way when the smoke clears. Thanks again....Ed

Glad to hear your trip went well, it is a shame that as tourists you have to watch your rout because of such things. I think it will be a rare accurance. Glad your burgers were good, Cindy and the kitchen gang are good.....as you can tell from my expanding belt line. Best time to come up to avoid traffice and the TNHP try a weekday. If you can only ride the weekends give us a shout and we can hook you up with all kind of great routes in NC.

Honestly, no idea on that one. Is'nt theire DOT stickers flouting around out their? But......steps up on soap box.......I have never understood this one, is a non-dot helmet cooler that a dot one? I have seem way to many accidents here to even contenplate wearing such a thing, you may be the worlds best rider but what about everyone else up here that day? Ok off the box now, again I realy have no idea, usualy when folks get a ticket on the Dragon they stop in to mmmmmm talk about it lol, anyway have never had anyone complaining about it.

Yes Paul , I do respect my head , and when I ride on the Trails in the woods and I am pushing it to the limit I would have to be crazy not to wear a Helmet , but when I am on the road I like to follow the speed limits and enjoy the ride and the wind in my hair , we have the helmet law up here in the unemployment state of Michigan but every state around us has no Helmet law . Just would like the Choice .
Brad , yes there are DOT stickers , but the HP are not dumb , they know the difference and if they want they will give you a ticket , there are a few cities up here that will give tickets for no DOT helmets , and yes they are Cooler in the summer , not as much padding and are lighter , Not a big deal to wear a helmet on my Harley's but when I am on my chopper the helmet acts like a Parachute on my head .

A DOT helmet saved my life many years ago. Had the same mishap occured with a non-DOT "novelty" helmet I wouldn't be enjoying motorcycling today. I feel like my helmet takes NOTHING away from the "freedom" I feel when riding.

Enough of the preaching friend. Best wishes!

No one here is trying to punk you out, we just see way to many accidents I gues, I hate to see a rider going home on the helo, ambulance or worse. I do believe everyone has a choice and I am the last one to judge. We just want everyone to have a great time.

Brad and Paul ,
Thanks for the concern on the Helmets , I guess the Helmet helped me out also when I was involved in a Hit an Run back in 1980 , the person just left me there laying in the road , but given the chance I will leave it off to let what hair I still have blow in the wind .
My cousin and I are heading south on Tuesday , will be riding the Dragon on Thursday morning , Looking forward to one of those burgers I have been reading about .
