Well its been since Sat Aug 4th....Dooms day(THP). That was the last day I was on the hill. Man Aug was a loooong and broing month, not going to the Gap on a weekly basis was taking its toll on me. Yes I know there are other great roads around here, but nothing is like that place. OK fast forward to Sept 2, I couldn't take it anymore. THP or not I was going riding. I had one destination and it was one that served pancakes. haha
Only one of my buds showed up so we headed out from the exxon/byburger at 7am sharp. As soon as we pulled onto 129 a THP car passes us, we followed him all the way to the hill thinking shit this is going to suck. We got about mm5 or so and saw a huge tree down in the road.
THP stoped hit the lights and waved us around the tree, then it was clear sailing all the way to the store. By the time we grabbed a bite and headed back to the overlook THP, TDOT, and the tree were all gone. WOOOOOT!!!! From 8:30-10:30 we made as many runs as possible and it was great. Did I mention there was only a handfull of bikes on th road till about 10-10:15.
When a guy on an R1 went down 2 THP officers showed up, but they were just chit chatting on the side of the road more so making sure that people proceeded with caution while the guys picked up parts of the bike from the road. On our was out we saw 1 BCSD roll through we were just crusing barley above the speed limit, he gave us a wave and drove right on by.
Not being up there and reading/hearing all the talk had started to get to me. But ya know what, it doesn't matter. I love that road, the grill and greatly enjoy the people that I meet each time I go up there. Doing 30mph is not going to ruin it for me.
