If you have a CCL in Va, it may be recognized in NC and Tenn. You might go on NRA website to check it out.

I have a concealed carry license in NC and I did confirm it is recognized in Virginia.

I just checked NRA. Both NC and Tenn recognize the Virginia CCL.

I carry with a TN CCL, in NC. Reciprosity is found between all states that touch TN.

A great source for more "carry" info is www.packing.org (http://www.packing.org)

however the question was for non concealed carry,
i do know that in Tennessee if the hunting seasons are closed then carrying gun is frowned on, the reg rules, are unloaded and no ammo in ease access.
this is for transportation, and part of the gap is in the national forest where it is no no no to carry under any condition

My bad.

The road actually skirts the park, and your thoughts on carrying are correct for any long gun. For a hand gun, in TN you are allowed to carry without permit if the gun is seperate frm the ammo and in plain sight. Conceal carry is allowed through the 129 corridor permitting you have proper paperwork. With a conceal carry, I can also carry in plain sight with the weapon loaded.
