Hey all,
My son has been riding dirt bikes since 6 years old. In March he put up his own money and got his motorcycle endorsement (Florida requirement) so he can ride on the street. I had already planned on making the long awaited trip to Deals Gap. He comes to me a week before I leave and says he wants to go also and can he ride along with me. Well, I'm riding a 06 V-Strom 650. My other bike is a 96 Bandit 600 which is what he's been riding. I told him it was a long way and I'm not sure he would be able to stand the seat that long. With all his 16 year old confidence he swears he'll be fine.
May 23 we head out. Long story short he makes it just fine just like he said! I had a set of Michelin Power Race tires mounted to the Bandit just before we left and he was riding very well.
Okay maybe I'm a bit biased here, but he really was doing well and he even made the trip back just fine. Not many 16 year olds get to say they road from central Florida to Deals Gap, road the dragon for three days, and then road all the way back home! Pictures by Killboy.com
