Cell phone-I have Verizon and only had service at deals gap store, and of course in Robbinsville,
NO service at lookout. I was with 3 guys who had sprint and Nextel they only had service
in Robbinsville, NO service at deals gap store.
Fire pit-I am not sure but, motorcycle riders love to talk motorcycles with other riders so
just look for a fire and start tellin stories

ty for the info! im rolling out in 2 hours so anyone else posting i wont see it until i return.
i have sprint network so ill count on nothing until robbinsville then.
after a few drinks in the evening i can always talk bikes,so ill definetly be hitting up folks with fires then.
unfortunatly i cant be drinking like i would if i was just "camping" as ill need to not have a hangover the next morning interfiering with my riding.
see you all there!

My AT&T phone (Cingular when I was at the Dragon) worked fine everywhere. Although I didn't check it all that often since I was on vacation. :)

If you have verizion or Sprint, you can go into your settings, roam and choose roam only, this will force a weak signal.
will pretty much only work on verizion or sprint due to the they are not GSM phones they are CDMA. (better technology, however not world wide technology)

Very interesting! I will definitely try this at the gap. There is also another area I ride that when we stop at a local restaurant I have almost no signal. Thanks for the tip!

My friend has Verizon and was not able to get a signal anywhere on the Gap itself. We needed it to call for help for a downed rider and could not get a signal anywhere that day.
