Brad,
Has the recent cold weather affected the Cherohala and motorcycles? My wife and I were planning a trip on Easter Sunday through the area and I am wondering if there has been any snow or if any is predicted. The local weather does not mention the Cherohala. Any info would be appreciated.

This time of year with these conditions - time it right & the skyway will be gloriously clear & beautiful & cold. time it wrong & It'll freeze body parts fast &/or literally blow you off the mountain.
If from low you can see any blue sky & it is not windy you are good to go but you may need serious cold clothing. If you can see clouds touching mountain tops be careful. If the tops are in clouds & it is windy you will definitely not be happy up there!
Easy enough to ride up bit by bit & see how it goes & be prepared to turn around & go back lower. (real men know when to retreat!)

I have to agree with the quote that "Real Men Know when to Retreat." I have been caught on the skyway when the clouds were so thick that I could here the bikes in front of me, but I could not see them.

Sorry Gang, the skyway had snow today and it is coldddddddd. Tomarrow should be better but I would not hit the skyway until the afternoon

Thanks, I have ridden the Skyway enough to know when I can make it or not. My concern was icing given the temps that are there right now. I don't worry so much about me but I do not want to subject my wife to it. I will plan a different route for tomorrow and monitor for coming back. Wifey loves the Cherohala on her ST1300.
Icing scares the living crap out of me, unless it is on a cake, and then icing fears me.

Only Tank would get a cake for his bike :)
