Hey everyone, just joined the forum and am trying to get all the info I can. Wife and I are making our first trip 15-20 July. Our reservations are at the Two Wheel Inn. This was a recommendation from the Katana riders forum of which I'm a member. The Kat riders are planning their annual get together that same week but they've already booked up the Tree Top. I'll be joining up and riding with them. Anybody out there got any comments bout the Two Wheel Inn?? Good/Bad, ok?? The only drawback I can see bout staying there is that it's approx 20 min. from the dragon. It's my first trip to the gap and am really excited/apprehensive. Wife doesn't ride so I'll be budding up with others. Bought my first bike in over 20 yrs. this past Aug. Got an 06 Katana 600 in black. I've ridden on and off since jr. high and this is my third bike since the 70's. Gonna take my time and stay within my abilities on the tail. Don't want to tear up the bike or me!! At 58 yrs old I'm not as resilient as I once was. Anyway, any advice and recommendations will be greatly appreciated!! Will be talkin to ya in the forum and hope to meet some of you in July. Ride safe.

Almost all nearby lodging is quite good - unless you're the 5 star in need of concierge with heavy Frog accent types. We always stay at Brad's at the gap but TWI is primo, also, IMO.
& that 20 mile ride to the gap? again IMO one of the sweetest morning ride-out-for-coffee roads in N America. In fact, my personal rule is to warm my tires on that section first thing before touching the gap road.

Thanx for the feed back. I figured the TWI would be a top notch stay because of the recomendations of others and the research we've done. You made an excellent point - that 20 min ride to the gap wil be a good tire warmer and a nice wake up to get you started - glad you mentioned it.

I would also suggest that you check out Fontana Village Resort. It's only 10 miles from the Dragon and is a great place to stay. They have rooms at the Inn or cabins throughout the village. They also have some great places to eat. And the people are great. Even if you don't stay at Fontana, you have got to stop by the Hellbender Pitstop. It's right on the side of Hwy 28 and makes for a great place to take a break.
