Hello I am coming down in july with about 6-8 people from R.I. for my brothers bachelor party. we love to ride and are excited but looking for a great place to stay for a bunch of first timers. Hopefully campfires and good times. Thanks for any info.

stay at deal's gap resort! nice fire pit w/stone sitting wall around it, great food (burger, chicken, dog's), great breakfast (pancakes, pancakes, pancakes). camping is cheap and the rooms are great. they have everything you need for a nice weekend w/the guyz. the staff is very helpful w/directions, places to eat, places to ride, service and parts advice, and just plain conversation! camping is first come first serve but rooms can be reserved but book now because they go quick! have fun and ride safe!! oh ya, DO NOT CROSS THE YELLOW LINE! you will here it if you do!

Check out Fontana Village Resort They have rooms at the Inn and cabins throughout the village. They also have some great places to eat. And you'll only be 10 miles from the Dragon. And, oh what a wonderful 10 miles it is. The ride from Fontana to the Dragon on Hwy 28 is a good "Hello, Good Morning, How ya doin!" ride before you get started on the Dragon.

I went to the Gap for the first time last week and stayed at The Two Wheel Inn. Was about 20-25 mins from the base of the Dragon but it definitely was a nice ride getting to and from the Dragon everyday.

The Tapoca Lodge is a nice place to stay too. I stayed overnight last May when I went to the Dragon for my first time. We were late arriving and the dining hall was closed, but the young lady working the desk asked if we'd had anything to eat and when we answered no - she fixed us a couple of the best ham sandwiches we'd ever had. :)
