:) Hey Ben,

$.02ref your report on BCSD activities on Sunday... I'd rather see that than the alternative - here's why...

1. Those guys field complaints all of the time, every week, about the "scooter trash" terrorizing folks up on the gap road. At some point they HAVE to do something or there will be a substantive election issue for the Sheriff some day. So, they come up, ONE day this fall, in uniform, marked cars, electronics blazing enough to light up every receiver in E TN and a couple of Air Guard interceptors as well, all together making big show of doing something. It is totally obvious the're here taking names and doing due diligence.... They definitely get the buzz on the street that enforcement is happening - big time. Anyone (of us) who doesn't get it probably needs to learn the drill. Then? they go away. Money? yeah - but probbly nowhere near enough to pay for the total Sunday show costs. Sunday? Overtime? Some guys doubling their work day?

And the funny thing? Next month the county court staffs & judges are going to be mad as #### at the Sheriff - LOL.

2. When they start running one or two shifts most of the week, all season with a single stealth new wave unmarked civi plate SUV - we're then talking serious budget line money. That's the alternative we do not want to see...

Disclosure here. Not LEO, Not defending. Just describing. Paid more than my share of TN speed tax & talked to plenty of judges about it. I've never had a single issue with these LEO max-force-light-up-the-county days. For myself, I believe they are doing their best compromise to address the civi issues & leave us alone.

I would agree, personally think they have been doing a pretty good job of not getting overzealous on the enforcement these past few months and would expect a showing of force once in a while just to keep everyone honest.
I can only speak for what I have seen and heard as far as them handing out tickets. Who knows why they came out in such force.
Just like in football you cant pass on every play you gotta run the ball once in a while to keep the other team honest. Now, if they are up there every weekend busting chops then I will start bitching' or as soon as I get a ticket, then look out!

I agree, Blount County has done a wonderful job this season, from my stand point both accidents and fatalities are down and we did not have tons of county or state patrols here this year. So form my seat, thanks TN LEO's.
