Was this done to raise money for some charity like the Walk-A-Thons'? If so, which charity? If not was it a Sir E. Hillary goal? ("Because it's there" - Mt. Everest climb)

i think that the other problem with IBA sanctioning the ride was the speed limit. You have to average a little over 40mhp to complete 1000 miles in 24 hours and since the posted limit is 30 they couldn't recognize it.
we were there all night (ok, i slept a bit) and he kept going strong. we were very happy to see him complete it, and he even rode over an hour home after he was done.;)
You know, a couple of months ago there was a story in one of the major motorcycle magazines about doing the 1500 in 24 hours. The guy was riding a Vstrom. There was a picture in the article showing the Vstroms speedometer showing 130mph. They gave that guy a license plate frame.
As a result of the IBA not recognizing his ride, I am no longer recognizing the IBA.
That'll show 'em.
