I am getting so excited about going to North carolina Friday. My husband says he's not sure if we will get to ride the Dragon, because I am so cold natured. He says " I want you to be able to enjoy it". I don't care what I have to do, but I want to ride the Dragon. I may look like the Michelin Man doing it, but somehow I'm gonna do it. Any suggestions for staying really warm? I have packed pantyhose, thermals, leather pants, chaps, leather jacket, gloves, scarf, face warmer, and snowpants so far.:p I think I got everything, but if anyone has any suggestions let me know.
um, it was 75 yesterday. :)
Its 70 right now..... at 9 am.

Really? What does it say it will be like Saturday and Sunday? On the site I looked at it has it around 63 for Sat. and 66 for Sun.

full face helmet. half helmets do not keep you warm and do not protect you in a crash, the just allow your jaw bone to be pushed up into your brain (this has been researched and proven). half helmets only show how much value you place on your head!! i also wear a dicky (neck band) if it is below 50 or so, this seals off my dome from any drafts and is really warm.

Ralphie, great advice! I always wear a full faced helmet. I seen a really bad accident one time at Daytona, and they were going really slow, but ever since then I even wear my helmet on Main Street. Gixxer, I am from south Georgia. I love it here and would never move wear it is cold.:p My husband is from Kansas originally, but he's been converted. He's worse than me, he likes it really hot! I think with all my gear I should be fine. Like I said before, I am riding that Dragon one way or the other.:D

i WISH it was 60 degrees up here..... hell, wish it was 50, or even 40 today!
Been snowing off/on all morning, might be up to the high 30's by now.... no snow accumulation in my area tho, maybe up north.
On the Gap, you'll be riding reletively slow, so windchills shouldn't be an issue.
If you're planning on doing the Cherahola, definitely take warm gear along. Temps drop quite a bit at high alts.
edit: Oh, I'm in MI !

Thanks for the advice! I am going to check the weather one more time and then I am going to pack. We are leaving first thing in the morning. Probably won't actually get to the Dragon till Saturday or Sunday. We are staying with some family in Hickory, then we will hit the Dragon one of those days.

Hey everyone! Sorry it took so long to get back on here. Well, we didn't get to ride the dragon this time, because of the time and some bike work. We knew we had to get the brakes fixed going up, but after we got those done we ran into a problem with the gears in the front tirewheel area or something like that. Also his brother's bike wouldn't crank. Well anyway we have to go back to get some more work done on the gears, probably in the spring or summer. Hopefully we will get to ride then. His brother's bike also got fixed, it was the starter. It makes it sound like our bike is a piece of junk, which is not the case it just has alot of miles. It is a 99 with 122,000.
