I recently went on my first Gap trip this weekend. 22nd-24th. Many ups and downs.

The ups- Great scenary, good food, away from it all, a lot of friendly people.

The downs- Wasnt all what I expected. Didnt even seem like there were 318 turns. North GA Mt's are alot more fun, IMO. I saw WAY too many wrecks, everytime I rode through I saw a ambulance with its lights on. Later towards the day, saw cops on 3 or 4 of the turns.

All in all, it was nice to get away and ride the tail. It was rainy but still managed to be dry for half the day on Saturday. I may be back since I'm only 2 hrs away. :)

Come up during the week days. It's a lot more fun with less traffic. It is hard to ride the Dragon at a good pace with the weekend traffic. :)

I'm actually thinking about heading back up there this weekend. :) If I do decide to come, I'll be there around 12pm on saturday

12pm on a saturday is probably the worst time to ride. Although there are many other roads in the country that are twistie. How many have no additional roads or driveways coming off them like the dragon? I have never been to any of the north GA roads, but most that I have seen does have other areas where somoeone can pull out in front of you from an intersection or driveway. Hope you enjoy your next trip, and remember. With the dragon its not only about the road, but the friends, stories, and experiences you have for life.

We should be up at the Gap around 11 am. If you see me give me a shout. I'm the big ugly guy in a Red Honda Jacket riding a Red Honda 919. It has my screen name on the windscreen.
