Confederation of Corvette Clubs of Louisiana

We try to go up to the Dragon at least every other year. But last year due to Katrina we had to cancel. So of course we will try again this year (2006). So far we have 40 Corvettes..

PLANS ARE:

Thursday, Oct. 19th - Depart New Orleans, picking up more “Dragon Slayers” enroute.

We will spend the night in Chattanooga, TN, at the Holiday Express, I-24, Exit 174.

Friday, Oct 20th - After a couple of hours drive, we will spend the next few hours on the “Dragon” There is a snack and gift shop on the south end of the run (Deal’s Gap), Those who wish to relax between runs will have a place to “chill” and talk about their last run.

We will spend Friday and Saturday night in Gatlinburg, TN, at the Glenstone Lodge.

Friday night we will eat dinner and be entertained at “Dolly Pardon’s Dixie Stampede”, in Pigeon Forge, TN, just a couple of miles north of Gatlinburg.

Saturday, Oct 21st - Road Trip in the morning through the Smoky Mountains National Park to the Cherokee Indian Reservation, Lunch will be on your own. There are lots of museums, activities, restaurants, gift shops, and Harrah’s Casino for your pleasure. The afternoon will be free for shopping or sightseeing. Or driving the Dragon..

Saturday night we will take a ride up the mountain on a tram and eat dinner at “Ober Gatlinburg”

Sunday, Oct 22nd - Return home.

AS WITH ALL LOUISIANA CORVETTE CONFEDERATION EVENTS, THIS IS A “Y’ALL COME”. Don’t need to be in a Louisiana Corvette Club. In fact, I encourage corvetters from everywhere to come join with us.

Thanks

:) ... great...some made in the USA frp to add to the tree...

...just kidding, of course, but please, please remember that even touching the double yellow on blind lefts is the local equivalent of farting at the dinner table. Crossing it on blind lefts is, well, hum, can we say declasse.

At least half of the folks have driven the Dragon 3+ times. As far as the trees, I think there safe, this crowd is very calm (read avg. age is 50). I just hope I can keep the new guys off the brakes.

We have had several Corvett clubs up this year with no issues. I suspect a great time will be had by all.

I think I seen one hanging out in a pull off not far from the store Wed evening just watching everyone. And of course with the locals there I am sure they got a good show.

thanks for the heads up on the numbers. We may have to have a parking lot supervisor for that many. Parking is set up for motorcycles so to prevent folks getting jamed up and stuck in the parking lot for hrs we may have to control it some what.

ZO6CTSV.....
Three of us just left the Dragon 2 weeks ago and had a blast. We also visit often. If time allows, I suggest visiting the Cherohala Skyway. That is also a very nice drive and will allow you to get into 3rd & 4th gear a few times with your C6 :D

Have fun sounds like you guys will have a blast!!! Friday would be a good day to drive the dragon. Saturday will be VERY busy. 60+ vettes on the Dragon ?? Wow... That's scary...

PS: If this is your 1st run with the C6 ZO6 on the dragon, All I can say is... this car BITES on the curves !!!

Yes, I 've done it several times and yes we did the Cherohala Skyway. But the ladies in the group would rather shop, this time. And I can understand as shopping here in New Orleans is almost non-existant. Our main group is going Friday, a hand full may try it Saturday, and Sunday some are headed to the Biltmore.

It's now to 78 Corvette's just in our group. Not counting the Corvette Forum group. I haven't taken my Z on the road course, yet. So I'll take it easy my first go. And also this last Saturday we lost one of our members in a car wreck. He was driving his Viper and lost control, we will miss him. He left his wife, kids and a dental practice behind. He was a very experienced and respected SCCA racer. I guess when its your turn:(

Thanks, we will have a blast. It will be just be a relief to get away from all the Katrina crap.

Again Thanks,
Joe

Wow.. sorry to hear that.

Drive safe and have fun. I'm sure with that amount of vettes in the area LEO will be out in full force taking donations for this years XMas party! :D They know there will be many who cannot resist the temptation of opening it up on them nice "purdy" roads.

Thanks....I'll try to resist

I also wanted to thank the many whom have e-mailed me with your Dragon advise and prayers for our recovery here in the Greater New Orleans area (southern La and Miss.)

Thanks again...
