About how long would it take to get from the East side of Charlotte (University area) to Deals Gap? I will be moving there in about 3 weeks, and I am curious. I have a 99' Honda VTR1000 Superhawk, but I am not the typical sport bike rider. I take it easy and enjoy the view, I am looking forward to the great rides ahead of me in that area. I am used to flat, hot, unsenic rides here in TX. Tia

Welcome,,plenty of 996's in this area. Be mindful of your fist trip to the dragon, read many of the posts and try to get a feel for what your up against. Many expert riders post here so listen up. No squids.:)

I am in waxhaw, about 15 mins or so south of Charlotte. I was there last week-end and it took me 3 hours and 35mins. My speeds averaged around 70 to 80 in most areas. Depends on the route you take as to how long it will take you.

Cool, I was in your neck of the woods today looking at housing... I think we are going to settle up north though. a little community called skybrook, seems nice enough...
Maybe we'll meet up sometime..

Hey rock on, welcome to the area... It is cool round here, and close enough to the gap and other good riding to keep me happy.
Where abouts are you moving from? I can up here from Orlando, Florida about a year and a half ago.

We are relocating from the Dallas area, McKinney TX....I lived in Orlando about 5 years ago, for about 9 months....
Yeah we just spent 3 days in Charlotte, and it is out freakin standing, I can't wait to get back...We should be back in town for good around Sept 1st...gotta get the kids in school...
Looks like there are a lot of nice rides out here, I am sure my wife got tired of hearing me say "dang this will be a great road to ride, man I wish I had my bike here with me", but alas I will be bringing her when we come back...what better way to learn your way around a new city....
I would love to hear of any routes you may have, as I am sure I will find plenty on my own as well, just more fun with a small group...

yeah my wife had to put up with that. We were back and forth for about 6 or 7 months while our house was being built. That is all I said while driving around, now that I have my bike up here it rocks. Charlotte is really a cool place to live. I am planning on selling my bike soon :( but if you are up here and wanna go for a ride hit me up. If I still have it I will defiantly be game.

Right on, will do..
I hear ya, we are stuck in temp housing until they get ours built...Another reason I am not letting the moving company transport my bike, it would be in storage for months...though I am used to riding year round, I guess this will be a bit of a change, depending on how bad the winters are there...
