Hi Everyone
I just bought my wife her first bike (250cc). I am trying to teach her to ride, with pretty good sucsess. She has never ridden anything before or even driven a manual shift car. We started out going back and forth in front of the garage. Now on day three she has graduated to the street in front of the house (I live on a dead end street). If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.
See you all next Saturday.

Hey Jason, that's cool your wife got her own bike!
I highly recommend the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) accredited courses!
There are beginners and advanced courses available.
I never took the beginners :( (to my disadvantage) but I did take the advanced about 9-10 years ago. I'm taking it again 4 weeks from today!
Tell her I send my congratulations! :)

Thanks s2tbolt. MFS does have some great classes. I have been riding since I was 4 years old. I took the beginners class last year and was surprised how much I learned. But my wife said she wanted to learn to ride before she took the class so she wouldn't look like a fool.

Well, I learned by making mistakes on the street, and I've got the scars to prove it.:( Wish I woulda asked "stupid" questions in a class full of strangers instead.
I wish you both the best of times riding together!

That is what the class is for ..so people can all learn to ride together and not look foolish. My hubby tried to teach me the night before my first class so I would not look foolish. I went to my first class with a concussion. Tell her to just take the class. Besides she will be learning on their bikes not hers. Keep in mind that all riders develope bad riding habits over time. This way she will learn the right way from the start. Also, if she drops it then it is their problem. I highly recommend the class to everyone of all ages..men and women. Best of luck to her and may you have many happy year of riding together. Hubby and I have been married for 26 years and I have been riding for 12 of them. The last 12 were lots more fun.

Jason--just read about your wife getting her own bike--I am a female who rides her own bike as well,I have a 1986 Rebel 450 & it's great to get to ride by myself now instead of always riding behind some one else. I think if she takes the motorcycle class (in which you must have to get a bike lincense any way) she will a lot, I sure did. There is nothing like the wind in your hair while riding the open road. Tell her to ENJOY!!!

Hi Jason, I've been riding for 28 years and my advice is get her into the BRC from MSF soonest. I took delivery of my first bike (CX-500 Deluxe) the day I finished the class. It had given me so much confidence that a week later I went on a 1700+ mile ride from the SF Bay area up thru northern California (mountains) and into Oregon (more mountains!), traveling at everything from freeway speeds leaving the Bay area iand into the mountain twisties. And a good number of those Sierra Nevada roads are just like the Dragon...only higher.
