Ride an 02 Fatboy thats slammed to the ground. Is there much compititon between the Crotch Rockets and us on the Geezer Glides that just like to putt around? I read to avoid the road during certian hours but would like to know what those hours are?

Their is no compition between bike types, not to say we do not get inconsiderate riders because we do. Weekdays, early am....around 8am-10 am and late evenings tend to be slower. The weekends tend to be very busy as far as sport bike traffic goes. But even on the weekends the early hours are very slow. Just keep a eye out for them, and wave them by and you should have a great time. I would say that we see more crusers during the week than sport bikes.

If the truth be told, there are probably more cruisers and touring bikes on the Hill than crotch rockets, trying to picture the parking lot now, but the crotch rockets get a lot of the talk, you will see everyithing there, all having fun....even scooters :-)

If you are planing on trying to keep up or out run people, please dont.
Ride your own ride, if someone is slower wait for them to wave you by.
if someone wants by please slow a little and wave them on.
Its all fun everyone I have ever meet there has been nice you will have a good time.

ride at your own pace. the others will get around you & you will get around others.

It's a different feeling to be at Deals Gap... Gone is the BS competition between Harleys vs Sportbikes ( for the most part ) . Everybody talks to everybody, and the fact that you are on 2 wheels is all the motivation you need to walk up and meet another fellow rider and break the ice so to speak.
Then you go back home and reality sets in as you get back to the BS way of life on 2 wheels where the ego's kick in again.

I agree 100%, it is good to see riders of all types hanging out here. I see alot of advice on riding passing both ways.

I agree with Wildkat too. Up on the hill is basically the only place I can talk to any rider. While resting up for another run through I often have a great conversation with other riders, mostly guys on cruisers. They are interested in my ride as I am theirs. A common interest is shown on both sides and that's the main thing. When I get back in town 50% of the cruisers I pass will not even wave back at me. I wonder to myself why this is. The only thing I've come up with is that while on the hill they see me NOT riding like an @$$hat and don't lump me with some of the stereotype 'crotchrocket' riders of today. But I enjoy talking with the older guys on cruisers, they have GREAT stories a LOT of times.
